For my fellow REAPER musicians who want a good 1960s British vibe using only the stock plugins.

FYI: This recording template isn't locked to any one GUI, so you can use REAPER's default, or change it up - it's fully skinnable. I built this entirely around REAPER's stock plugins, trying to get that era's sound. I worked off my notes and experience with calibrated compression, EQ, and vintage FX routing. This was challenging, as every REAPER setting has been compensated to make stock plugins perform like classic hardware. No Waves, no UAD, no third-party purchased stuff. I think depending how you record, and what you record, you can get some nice demos happening with this. I've done a lot of cool work using this template. Tweak those settings, and push this thing as far as you want to.

You get a structured, professional layout with some British flavor dialed in. Perfect for rock, pop, indie, and singer-songwriter productions - I tried to account for warmth, punch, and musical glue.

⚠️ CRITICAL: Proper Gain Staging Required

YOU MUST reduce your audio item gain by -3 dB before mixing.

Modern recordings are too hot for vintage-style processing. Without this reduction, your audio can:

* Slam the compressors (distortion instead of glue)

* Overdrive the saturation (harsh instead of warm)

* Hit the limiter too early (kills dynamics)

Save your ears and your gear. Remember: You can always raise the track volume - you've got the headroom built into the template. Full instructions included in the PDF guide.

WHY THIS WORKS:

This template isn't theory. It's calibrated. Every attack time compensates for ReaComp's speed. Every EQ boost accounts for the lack of transformer coloration. Every saturation stage is dialed in for warmth, not harshness.

Hopefully this can give you stock plugin users a little different experience for free. And I'm not trying to break new ground here - just paying homage to sound, and the great template makers who taught me.
